Many breast cancer patients and survivors are experiencing treatment-related distress like change in body image and sexuality on top of the financial challenges they go through. But, they don’t have to face these challenges alone.
Katrina, of the Sista with Style fashion website, and Be Uplifted, a charity that supports women with breast cancer and their families, are now working hand in hand to make their efforts stronger.
Be Uplifted invites everyone to a charity event where Katrina will be officially welcomed as their ambassador. The event will be held on the 17th of February at 60 Kuran St, Chermside QLD from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The afternoon promises to be fun and full of positivity as they invited Adrift, a known fashion label in Brisbane and Manish of Changing MindSpace. There will also be prizes from Kingfisher Bay resort, Footgear, and Sequins and Sand. For tickets and other inquiries, click here.
Meanwhile, Be Uplifted will also hold its Cent Auction 2018 on the 24th of February in the same venue from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Entry is just $5 and children under 12 years old are free. Sheets of tickets are available for $1 with so many prizes to win. For more information, click here.
Improving People’s Lives
Be Uplifted has chosen Katrina as its Mind, Body & Soul Ambassador. Together, they aim to improve the lives of breast cancer warriors.
Katrina is a breast cancer survivor herself. She was diagnosed in October 2013 and underwent treatment over the following years. During these trying times, she discovered relevant beauty and fashion secrets that helped her survive the emotional burden of having cancer. While undergoing treatment, she also found the desire to share what she has learnt from her own journey. She started blogging and eventually launched the Sista with Style website.
“Experiencing cancer first hand also means you become experienced in dealing with matters of self confidence, resilience, acceptance and how to be happy (I’m still not perfect at it, but I’m better than I was). I am also a big believer in that being involved in your community, the wider world and giving back (or paying it forward) feeds and nurtures the soul, which in turn, builds happiness from within,” Katrina said.
